6th Grade News April 22 - 26, 2019

General News
College or Career Shirt Day: Monday 4/22
Students are encouraged to wear a college or career t-shirt with uniform bottoms. Please make sure college or career is visible. Solid colors are not allowed.

Band Concert
There will be a band concert on Monday, May 6th, 2019 at 6:30pm. The concert will be held at the Cedar Shoals High School Theater.

Content News
Math
Students will be doing Milestones/MAP review the entire week.

  • No tutoring for Mr. Smith this week!

ELA
We are reviewing and preparing for Milestones and 
MAP testing. We are encouraging students to ask for 
help, extra credit work, and make up work. Students 
should be reading every night. We are using fun 
games to help review for some of the material, and 
we are reading articles and answering questions to 
practice reading comprehension. We are also using 
ReadTheory and CommonLit to reinforce test taking 
strategies and reading comprehension.

Science
Students in Ms. Rohrbach's classes will take their Unit 5 test on Monday. This is due to the fact that our classes were messed up last week because of Milestones. On Tuesday, students will begin our last unit of science for the year--Patterns in Space. This unit will cover seasons, moon phases, and planets with information about space. Mr. Watkins and Ms. Fox's class will review and finish up Unit 5 this week.

  • Unit 5 Test on Monday, April 22, 2019 (Ms. Rohrbach's classes!)
  • Tutoring with Ms. Rohrbach on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00pm.

Social Studies

Spanish
Students will continue studying the last unit of the class-El calendario (The calendar). It will include numbers 1-31, days of the week, months of the year, the date, weather, and seasons. 
  • Tutoring with Ms. Willingham on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:00pm - 5:30pm. 
Advanced Spanish
Students will continue studying the last unit of the class-El cuerpo (The body). It will include parts of the body and expressions used at doctor's visits.
  • Tutoring with Ms. Willingham on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:00pm - 5:30 pm.
**Please note that students in the Online Spanish class may come to tutoring with Ms. Willingham or Ms. Viera on Mondays from 4:00 - 5:30.

Ag Science Class/FFA
Monday- 
Makeup Day in Mrs. Martin's room for any missing work. 7:45-8:10 and 4:00-4:30.
Agriscience Fair Practice 4:00-6:00  

Wednesday- 
Test Forms Due back for anyone trying to raise their test grade.
Agriscience Fair Practice 4:00-5:00

Thursday-Friday: State FFA Convention and State Agriscience Fair. Macon, Georgia. Leave 5am from Clarke Central.

AVID Elective
AVID Elective students are continuing their Career Portfolio Project. Due dates and any other information are on Google Classroom.
