6th Grade News January 22 - 25, 2019

General News
Binder Check Updates
Binder Checks are continuing for the rest of the year. However, beginning this quarter, rather than simply checking for basic school supplies, each teacher will now be checking for materials specific to that specific content area in order to ensure that students are not only bringing their binders and necessary supplies, but are now also keeping up with their notes and assignments for all of their classes. For example, in science last week, students were asked for the following items for their binder check: science notebook, pencil, starter from the week, and notes from the week. As usual, students who earn enough points by the end of each month will continue to earn a dress down day! If you are in need of supplies for your child or would like to donate supplies, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

Saturday School

Note from Mr. Hutchins
Some of you may have heard, but Friday, January 18th was Mr. Hutchins' last day at Hilsman Middle School. He extends the following message to our 6th grade families and students: "I have transitioned to a promotion with the Rockdale County School District. I have truly enjoyed my time here at Hilsman and collaborating with the students and the great activities that took place. The 6th grade students have made immense math progress this year." We most certainly will miss Mr. Hutchins here at Hilsman, but we wish him the best in his future endeavors! There is a plan in place for his absence, however if you have any specific questions, please contact Ms. Tolbert.
