6th Grade News May 13 - 17, 2019

General News
College/Career T-Shirt Day
Our FINAL monthly College/Career T-Shirt day will be this Monday, May 13th. Students are encouraged to wear a t-shirt representing a college (or career) with jeans! Please make sure the college is visible on the shirt, as solid colors are not permitted. Our staff will be decked out with shirts from our colleges and we hope students will join us!


Awards Day Update
The 6th Grade Awards Day was moved to Wednesday, May 15th, 2019 at 10:00am at the Cedar Shoals Auditorium. Students will be bussed over to Cedar Shoals for the Awards Ceremony. Invitations were sent home last week!

Early Release Friday - LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!
Please be advised that Friday - the last day of school for students - will be an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:30pm.

Content News
Math
Students will be reviewing math standards with some games this week! On Monday and Tuesday, students will watch Hidden Figures to relate math standards to real life!

ELA
We are completing our Greek Mythology unit. Students will prepare a project in class and present it to their peers. Please make sure your students are asking for extra credit and make up work. 

Science
Students are wrapping up Unit 6 and reviewing this week. Their Unit test will be on Thursday, May 16th. The last day for makeup work to be turned in will be on Tuesday, May 14th.
  • Unit 6 Test on Thursday, May 16th.
  • Tutoring with Ms. Rohrbach on Tuesday from 4:00-5:00pm this week.

Social Studies
Stay tuned for content updates!

Spanish
Students will finish Unit 4 and introduce numbers 40-100.
  • Tutoring with Ms. Willingham on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:00pm - 5:30pm. 
Advanced Spanish
Students will finish Unit 8 and then do brief reviews over the other 7 units covered this year. 
  • Tutoring with Ms. Willingham on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:00pm - 5:30 pm.
**Please note that students in the Online Spanish class may come to tutoring with Ms. Willingham or Ms. Viera on Mondays from 4:00 - 5:30.

Ag Science Class/FFA
Monday- May 13
FFA Banquet 6:00-7:00- All FFA members (even if you could not attend a meeting) will be recognized. Parents should attend and we will have dinner during the program. If you would like to bring a side or dessert we would be appreciative. Only the leadership team should stay after school!

Monday- May 13
Ag Class Final Makeup Workday 7:45-8:10 or 4:00-4:30. If you have things to makeup and do not do so during this time you will not be able to attend the career fair.

6th Grade News May 6 - 10, 2019

General News
Binder Check Dress Down
Students who have 250 or more points for the month of April may dress down on Monday, May 6th. Please make sure that your student is adhering to the CCSD/Hilsman Dress Code policy. Students may not wear pants with rips, holes, or tears in them, along with leggings, jeggings, or jogging pants. Students may not wear hats or slides. Parents if you have any questions or concerns regarding binder checks, please email student's teachers. 

Band Concert
There will be a band concert on Monday, May 6th, 2019 at 6:30pm. The concert will be held at the Cedar Shoals High School Theater.

Field Day Update
The 6th Grade Field Day was moved to Tuesday, May 7th, 2019. Students will participate in activities with their 4th period teacher. The colors that teams will wear are as follows:
Archer: Purple
Brock: Gray
Fox/Watkins: Black
Jones/Holden: White
Holland/Engelsen: Blue
Rohrbach: Red
Rucker/Martin: Green
Smith: Orange
Thompson/Oyeyemi: Yellow
Willingham: Pink

Please make sure that they are getting their work done and turned in. The last day for makeup work to be turned in will be on Tuesday, May 14th.

Advanced Spanish
Students will continue studying the last unit of the class-El cuerpo (The body). Wednesday, May 8 we will have a quiz over the verb "doler". We will continue to be in Unit 8. 
  • Tutoring with Ms. Willingham on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:00pm - 5:30 pm.
  • Quiz on Wednesday, May 8.
