It is our sincere hope that all of our students are passing all of their classes and performing to their full academic potential, so we encourage everyone to be checking parent portal frequently and using this final week as an opportunity to be checking in with teachers and completing any missing assignments.

Hilsman Health Center is now open! The Hilsman Health Center is now officially open! In order for students to be served, they need to have a parent/guardian fill out a consent form and return it to Nurse Caitlyn. Once the form is returned, we can schedule an appointment. If students have their consent form signed (and on file) and we get verbal permission, our nurses can walk students to the Health Center while they're at school if it's for urgent care (fever, asthma visit, etc.). Otherwise, it operates like a regular doctor's office! They currently do not have a phone number (they're working on it!), but appointments can still be made through the Athens Neighborhood Health Center. They are also taking walk-in visits for the time being! Have any questions? Send Nurse Caitlyn an email at kurishc@clarke.k12.ga.us. News from the AVID Coordinator Monday 12/16 College and Career T-Shirt Day Students and staff are encouraged to wear a college or career t-shirt and uniform bottoms. 6th Grade News: December 2-6, 2019

General News
Power Standards Review - Extra Credit Opportunity
Last Friday, each student received a packet of material for their academic classes. They can use this as an extra credit opportunity to review the most important topics (aka "power standards") in each academic class over Thanksgiving Break.

Students can replace their lowest test grade in each class by satisfactorily completing the power standards review for that class. The extra credit assignments are due when students return to school after Thanksgiving.

Here is the link to 6th grade power standards review packet

MAP Testing This Week
We will have our Winter MAP testing this week on Tuesday (Language), Wednesday (Reading), and Thursday (Math). Students will test in their homerooms and, as usual, can earn stamps and other incentives for reaching their growth goals!

The MAP Growth Assessments are used to accurately schedule ELT classes, to help students set academic goals, and to monitor students' progress throughout the year. For more information, check out the answers to 12 Common Questions Parents ask about the MAP Growth Assessment.
