6th Grade News December 10 - 14, 2018

General News
Grades
As we approach the end of the semester, students now have 2 weeks to continue to get their grades up. Please continue to check Infinite Campus and email/call your student's teachers if you need to speak about their progress in certain classes.

Band Concert
Please join the Hilsman band for their winter concert on Monday, December 10th at 6:30pm in the Cedar Shoals auditorium!

AVID - December Binder Checks
December binder checks have started! As we continue moving forward with binder checks, teachers will eventually begin checking for their own content-specific materials and assignments. Additionally, Spanish and ELT teachers will no longer be conducting binder checks either - only math, ELA, science, and social studies teachers will be checking binders from here on out, beginning this month. The vast majority of our students are doing a wonderful job of staying organized - please continue to support your child by ensuring that they have the materials they need to be successful! If you are in need of supplies, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.

AVID Elective
6th grade students who received AVID Elective letters will participate in interviews with Admin this week as part of our recruitment process. We will finalize rosters by the end of this week. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Fassbender (fassbenderc@clarke.k12.ga.us).

Can-A-Thon

As we approach the holiday season, the 6th grade team is partnering with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia to hold a canned food drive. We will be competing by homerooms to see who can raise the most canned foods, and the winning homeroom will receive a pizza party! The Can-A-Thon will last until the end of the month, and a flyer was sent home with students with more information.

Tissue Donation
It is that time of year--Cold and Flu Season! If you would like to make donations of tissue, hand sanitizer, and clorox wipes to your student's homeroom, it would be so appreciated! We want to make sure that our students are staying healthy and not spreading germs!

Panther Pact Dinner and Game Night
On Tuesday, December 11th, the 6th Grade team will be holding a Panther Pact Dinner and Game Night. It will be held from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. We would love to see our 6th grade families come out and enjoy the evening with us and play some fun games! This is just another way for our 6th grade teachers to stay connected to our families as much as possible. Dinner will be provided!
