6th Grade News: September 23-27, 2019

General News
College & Career T-Shirt Day - Monday 9/23
Our first monthly College/Career T-Shirt day will be this Monday, September 23rd. Students are encouraged to wear a t-shirt representing a college (or career) with uniform bottoms. No stamps or signatures in student agendas are required to participate. Please make sure the college is visible on the shirt, as solid colors are not permitted. Students who do not wish to participate must wear regular uniforms. Our Panther staff will be decked out with shirts from our colleges and we hope students will join us!

Hilfest
The first Hilfest at our new building will be on Saturday, October 5th from 10:00am-1:00pm! More info is forthcoming, but mark your calendars and stay tuned!

Hilsman Healthcare Center
The doctor is in at Hilsman and Gaines! The Hilsman Healthcare Center, located behind the gym, will have its grand opening on October 8th. All students and staff at Gaines Elementary will soon have easy access to sick visits, well visits, immunizations, dental services, counseling services, and more. For more information, check out this article written by one of our very own Hilsman alumni!

Fall Picture Day
Fall Picture Day at Hilsman will be October 11th. Flyers will be coming home soon with more information!

Girls Soccer Opportunity
This fall, Athens United will be holding practices for all players interested in playing soccer. The practices will be held at Whit Davis Elementary. The focus of the training sessions will be enhancing athletes' technical and tactical skills. Fall practice is open to all players enrolled in Clarke County Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. We hope players attend as many practices as possible. The cost for the entire season is $50 for elementary, and $100 for middle and high schoolers. This is an excellent opportunity to receive some great coaching and practice, especially for girls not already playing organized soccer. For more information, please email Coach West (the Cedar Shoals girls soccer coach) at westj@clarke.k12.ga.us, or see Mr. Naughton in Room 502 at Hilsman for a flyer with more info.
