General 6th Grade Information

Parent Conferences - Thank You!

Thank you to all parents and families for an excellent turn out for our Parent Teacher Conferences this week. It was an excellent opportunity to continue building relationships with our Panther Families! Special shoutout to our PTO for organizing and providing a DELICIOUS Chili dinner for our teachers. THANK YOU! 
If you have yet to have a conference, please contact your student's homeroom teacher. A full list of our 6th grade staff can be found below. 

College and Career Shirt Day - Monday, October 21

Students and staff are encouraged to wear a college or career t-shirt and uniform bottoms. College or career must be visible on shirt, so solid colors are not permitted. Students who wish to not participate need to be in regular school uniform. 

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - Tuesday, October 22


On Tuesday, October 22, at 4:15 p.m., the district will hold the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Hilsman Health Center, the doctor's office at Hilsman Middle School. The health center will provide care for students and staff from Hilsman and Gaines Elementary. At 5:00 p.m., the district will hold the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Hilsman Middle School.
These projects represent the hard work of many teams, dedicated to serving our students and our community. Please join us to celebrate.

Math News

Math: Monday and Tuesday we will be finishing with percentages of numbers. 
Wednesday and Thursday will be working on our unit 2 study guide. 
Friday-Unit 2 post test.


Science News

Science: Science will be continuing with Unit 2 rocks and minerals. There will also be a quiz at the end of the week as well in Mr. Truitt's class. 

Social Studies News
Social Studies: Students will continue learning about Trade Barriers, GDP, and Human Capital. Students will receive a study guide this week for the upcoming Unit 2 Test.

Connections news

Orchestra Concert: Wedenesday, November 13th at 6:30


Our Fall Concert is almost here!  Orchestra students in all grades will perform.  Students should report to the orchestra room by 6:00 to tune.  The concert will begin at 6:30 and last approximately 35 minutes.  Concert attire is a black collared shirt, khaki or black long pants.  Please no shorts or jeans.  Concerts are summative grades in orchestra class and attendance is required.  Please let me Ms. Floyd know if you have any questions.  We can't wait to show off our hard work!
